JAT Holdings, a renowned leader in the wood coatings industry, acknowledges the pivotal role of its skilled and dedicated workforce in its remarkable achievements over the past three decades. Valuing employee wellbeing as a cornerstone of a high-performance culture, JAT has implemented a range of initiatives under its sustainability framework. These initiatives not only enhance the health and overall welfare of employees but also contribute to the attainment of the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

At the heart of JAT's approach lies a comprehensive framework that addresses the physical, emotional, and mental wellbeing of its employees. Recognizing the importance of these aspects in maintaining a productive workforce, the company has proactively taken measures to cater to them.

Aligning with SDG 4 - Good Health and Wellbeing JAT organized a medical camp and dental clinic, specifically catering to its factory staff during World Wellbeing Week 2023. These events offer free medical consultations and screenings, focusing on identifying potential health concerns of individuals. Based on initial assessments, employees receive personalized consultations with doctors. The company plans to extend this programme to include head office staff in July 2023.

Moreover, in line with SDG 8 - Decent Work and Economic Growth, JAT emphasizes the importance of providing a safe and secure working environment. During World Wellbeing Week, employees actively participated in fire training, drills, and first aid training, ensuring their preparedness for creating a safe work environment for all. This commitment promotes labour rights and safeguards the welfare of all workers at all JAT premisses.

In response to challenging economic circumstances, JAT introduced diverse relief measures aimed at mitigating the impact on employees while safeguarding their health and wellbeing. The company launched its ‘Fresh Harvest Initiative’ using JAT’s very own produce from their vegetable harvest at Badulla in line with SDG 2 - Zero Hunger, which aims to contribute to ensuring access to safe, nutritious, and sufficient food for our employees and their families in these difficult times.

In addition to these initiatives, JAT provides a comprehensive range of benefits to all employees, including daily free lunches, access to gym facilities, employee sick rooms, and feeding rooms for new mothers. The company also organizes recreational activities to promote physical and mental engagement among the workforce.

JAT Holdings considers employee health, safety, and overall wellbeing as paramount within its organizational culture. By fostering a nurturing environment and implementing diverse support mechanisms, the company cultivates a high-performance culture while ensuring the holistic welfare of its employees. As JAT continues to lead and shape the wood coatings industry, it remains steadfast in its commitment to empowering its workforce and investing in their long-term success and wellbeing.
